SmartBurst Receives Nationwide 3.65 GHz National License from FCC

License enables SmartBurst to offer WiMAX technology

Aubrey, TX., May 15, 2008 -- SmartBurst, a leading fixed wireless provider in Texas, today announced that the company’s request for a nationwide license to provide WiMAX wireless services in the newly released 3.65 GHz band (3650-3700 MHz) has been awarded by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In addition, the company has received consent from Towerstream (NASDAQ: TWER), a leading fixed WiMAX service provider, to operate in the Dallas region.

"Using this spectrum will enable SmartBurst to extend our reach and offer our customers the reliability, speed and bandwidth benefits of WiMAX technology," said Patrick Parks, President of SmartBurst. "Now that our application has been approved by the FCC and we’ve received the necessary consent from Towerstream to operate in the 3.65 GHz band, we look forward to bringing our current and potential customers our enhanced services."

With the approval to operate in the 3.65 GHz band, SmartBurst will be able to offer its services to a wider range of customers since the spectrum allows for both near-line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight coverage. In addition, the company will now be able to leverage the increased economics of scale that WiMAX technology enables.
